Football Stadium Seeks Ambitious 'Players' For Club To Gain Promotion
Hi there. Ambitious players ? Well, both kinds really. The skillful ones who were, maybe, on the books at one of the top pro clubs but couldn't progress as the club simply bought in the finished article and were then let go or the entrepeneurial football fan with a few bob who fancies a go at creating a new set-up with the potential to make it to the Conference League. For the present, we are particularly concerned with the ambitious fan who wants to play a full part in the creation of a 'new' club with a new stadium in a prime location . The 'new' club is actually 120 years old but is in need of some care and attention. Don't worry. Most of the hard work has already been done. Planning permission has been granted and a 50 year peppercorn lease is being finalised as of Sept '06. This is where you come in. £750,000 is needed for construction of the stadium. However this can be phased, to an extent, to suit an available budget. Are you still reading? Don't panic. This can be a loan or you can act as a guarentor for, say, £100k and not have to part with any cash (or much at all) and still have a substantial input into the development of the club. Choose your role. Youth development (great scope here), General Manager, Chairman (yes, you can have my job), Events Manager or any position that you feel suits your abilities and promotes the club. You may run a company which could benefit by the kudos and advertising exposure that such a scheme could provide and be creating a bit of history too in a historic town that boasts three monarchs and three Prime Ministers as former residents, the birthplace of the worlds' first passenger jet plane, the University of Herts, stately Hatfield House and one of the worlds oldest football clubs. Our project will turnover a significant amount of money but if you are looking to make a profit then stop reading now. This project is about putting something back into the game - not about coining it in as a business opportunity. Only a true fan would understand this. What price a new lifestyle? A holiday home in Costa del Monger to be visited four times a year or a full time involvement with hundreds of people in a noble scheme for 50 years? The choice is yours. The Project Let's get down to it. Initially a 450 seat grandstand with large (31m x 12m) integral clubhouse with a 1st floor balconey (16m x 5m), floodlights and an 800 space Park and Ride 20 yards away doubling as a bus terminus.Densely populated residential area just across the road and on Junction 2 of the A1M and served by the Great North Road, three other local roads, cycle path and near to the M25 and M1. Kings Cross station is just 20 minutes away too. A large hotel 400 yards away and the nearest pub a non-competetive half mile distant. The football clubs of Watford 16 miles, Stevenage (15) and Luton (17) safely out of the catchment area. Local population of 40,000 soon to rise to 60,000 when 10,000 new homes are to be built in the town within next 12 years. Main community focal point ? A large shopping mall. Nothing else save a swimming pool. Where are we ? Hatfield, Herts. Just 18 miles north of London. Who are we? Sport Hatfield. An organisation set up to administer the stadium project. Who will play there? Hatfield Town FC Who? Hatfield Town FC est 1886. Formerly one of Hertfordshires top clubs and a pro side in the late 1960's. Now stuck in the villagey Herts County League and denied promotion to the Rymans League in '97 and , last season denied promotion to the South Midlands League due to there being no suitable ground in Hatfield. This season the club have been forced to vacate their home town and groundshare with Harpenden, 10 miles away, who do have appropriate facilities. If promotion is won (yet again) this season the club will be allowed to enter the South Midlands League. Two further promotions will then secure a place in the Rymans. The old chestnut 'sleeping giant' is certainly applicable in Hatfield Towns' case. Please email your interest to: sport.hatfield@ntlworld.com
